Your In-House Skokie Oral Surgeon
Wisdom teeth, surgical extractions, bone grafting, and implant placement, performed by an oral surgeon in the same Old Orchard office as your regular dentist.
Written by the My Dental Hub team. Medically reviewed by Dr. Ahmed M. Alsayed, DDS. Last reviewed: September 2026.
Oral surgery without the referral
Oral surgery at My Dental Hub is performed in-house by an oral surgeon, so you don’t need a referral to another office for wisdom teeth, surgical extractions, bone grafting, or dental implant placement. Your exam, your 3D imaging, your surgery, and your follow-up all happen in one office at the Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie.
You deal with one front desk and one chart, and the surgeon who removes or places a tooth can walk down the hall to the dentist who will restore it.
If you were told you need a Skokie oral surgeon and expected a second office and a second wait, you can skip both. Book directly with us, or ask your dentist to send records through our referral form.
Meet the oral surgeon
Dr. Ahmed M. Alsayed, DDS, is our in-house dentist and oral surgeon. He holds a Master of Science in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Cairo University and completed advanced postgraduate training in general dentistry at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester, where he now serves as faculty in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program.
His clinical experience spans the United States, Kuwait, and Egypt, and his work centers on dental implants, wisdom tooth extractions, and complex surgical cases. Patients with dental anxiety are a particular focus; he explains treatment and sedation options before anything begins. Outside the office he takes part in public-health outreach and volunteer programs, and he is fluent in English and Arabic.
Oral surgery procedures we perform
Wisdom teeth removal
Wisdom teeth that are impacted, partly erupted, or pushing on the molars in front of them are removed here by Dr. Alsayed. We use CBCT 3D imaging to see the position of each tooth and its roots before surgery, which is how we plan around nerves and the sinuses.
See Tooth ExtractionsSurgical extractions
A surgical extraction is needed when a tooth has broken at the gumline, has curved or fused roots, or sits below the bone. It involves a small incision and sometimes dividing the tooth so it comes out in pieces with less force. Because a surgeon is doing it, a simple extraction that turns complicated does not become a referral partway through.
Bone grafting
Bone grafting rebuilds jawbone that has thinned after an extraction or years without a tooth, usually so an implant has enough support. We perform sinus lifts for the upper back jaw, ridge augmentation for a narrow ridge, and socket preservation at the time of extraction, using synthetic grafting material rather than bone taken from elsewhere in your body.
Dental implant placement in our office
Dr. Alsayed places implants in the same office where your crown, bridge, or denture will be made, and your implant consultation is free. Single implants, implant-supported dentures, and full-arch cases are all placed here, with same-day options for patients who qualify.
See Dental ImplantsAll-on-X full-arch implants
For patients missing most or all of the teeth in one arch, All-on-X uses four or more implants to support a full fixed bridge. Dr. Alsayed handles the surgery and our in-house prosthodontist, Dr. Ahmed Youssef, designs the teeth, so the two people responsible for the result work in the same office.
See All-on-X ImplantsLaser frenectomy
A frenectomy releases the small band of tissue under the tongue or behind the upper lip when it restricts movement, pulls on the gums, or contributes to a gap between the front teeth. We perform it with a laser for adults and teens, which means minimal bleeding and, in most cases, no stitches.
Crown lengthening
Crown lengthening reshapes the gum, and if needed a small amount of bone, to expose more of a tooth. It is most often done so a crown has enough tooth structure to hold onto, or to correct a gummy smile, and it is completed in one visit.
Sedation for oral surgery
Oral conscious sedation and IV (moderate) sedation are both available for surgical appointments, and Dr. Alsayed will go over which one fits your procedure and your health history at the consultation. With either option, you will need someone to drive you home.
Do I need a referral to see an oral surgeon at My Dental Hub?
No. You can book directly with us for a wisdom tooth consultation, an extraction, or a free implant consultation, whether or not you are already a patient here. If you have a regular dentist elsewhere, they can send records through our referral form and we will coordinate with them on the restoration afterward.
Frequently asked questions
How much does oral surgery cost, and does insurance cover it?
It depends on the procedure, the number of teeth, the imaging needed, and whether you choose sedation, so we go over the cost with you after the exam. We are in-network with Aetna, Ameritas, Blue Cross, Cigna, Dental Health Alliance, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Sun Life, United Concordia, and UnitedHealthcare. Members of the My Dental Hub Membership Plan ($199.99 a year for an adult) receive up to 50% off extractions and implants, and implant consultations are free for everyone.
What is recovery like after wisdom teeth removal?
Plan on two to three days of swelling and soreness, managed with cold compresses and the medication we recommend, and a soft diet for the first few days. Most people are back at work or school within a few days, and the sockets take a few weeks to close fully. You leave with written instructions and a number to call.
What sedation options do you offer for surgery?
Two. Oral conscious sedation is a pill taken before your appointment that leaves you relaxed and drowsy but awake. IV (moderate) sedation is delivered through a small line for deeper relaxation that most patients barely remember. Local anesthetic is used with both.
Am I a candidate for in-office implant placement?
Most adults with a missing tooth and reasonably good health are. At the free consultation we check bone volume on a CBCT scan, gum health, and medical factors such as uncontrolled diabetes or smoking that slow healing. If bone is short, grafting first is usually the answer rather than a no.
How quickly can a Skokie oral surgeon see me for a painful wisdom tooth?
We keep room for same-day emergency visits whenever possible and see first-time patients for emergencies. Call or text (847) 674-2463 during office hours; after hours, our phone line will reach us.
