Routine care and the cases other offices refer out

General dentistry is the everyday care that keeps your teeth and gums healthy: checkups and cleanings, fillings, crowns, root canals, tooth extractions, and treatment when something suddenly hurts. At My Dental Hub in Skokie, that care comes from an owner-dentist working alongside an in-house prosthodontist and an in-house oral surgeon, so a root canal, a wisdom tooth, or an implant stays in this office instead of becoming a referral across town.

Our office is in the Old Orchard Shopping Center professional building, Suite 221, which makes a cleaning easy to fit around errands. We are open Monday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and the 1st and 4th Saturdays of the month from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

If you are looking for a Skokie general dentist who can handle both the routine visit and the complicated one, start here. Each service below has its own page with more detail.

General dentistry services we provide

    Dental checkups and cleanings

Your first visit includes a comprehensive evaluation, a panoramic X-ray plus any other X-rays we need, a professional cleaning, and a sit-down review of what we found. After that, most patients come in every six months. Sealants, sports and night mouthguards, and gum disease treatment (scaling and root planing, with antibiotic therapy when needed) are available here as well.

    Tooth-colored fillings

We repair cavities with composite fillings matched to the shade of your tooth. If you have older silver amalgam fillings you would like replaced, we can do that as well.

    Crowns, including same-day options

Porcelain, ceramic, and zirconia crowns restore teeth that are cracked, worn, or too damaged for a filling. For patients who need a tooth finished in one visit, we can make a same-day crown in-house.

Root canals under a dental microscope

Dr. Moustafa R. Youssef is a licensed general dentist practicing endodontics, and he performs root canals under a dental microscope, which shows the fine canals inside a tooth far more clearly than the naked eye. The goal is to clear the infection and keep your natural tooth.

    Tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth

When a tooth cannot be saved, our in-house oral surgeon, Dr. Ahmed M. Alsayed, handles simple and surgical extractions, including impacted wisdom teeth. Oral conscious sedation and IV (moderate) sedation are available for patients who want them.

    Emergency dental care

We hold time for same-day emergency appointments whenever possible, and we see first-time patients for emergencies, not only patients of record. If pain starts after we close, our after-hours phone line reaches us. Most emergencies end as a root canal, a filling, a crown, or an extraction, and all four happen here.

How often should I come in for a checkup?

Most patients do best with a checkup and cleaning every six months. If you have gum disease, a history of frequent cavities, or a restoration we are watching, we may ask to see you every three or four months instead.

Plan on a panoramic X-ray at your first visit and routine X-rays about once a year after that. Between visits, call us if a tooth becomes sensitive to hot or cold, a filling feels rough, or your gums bleed when you brush; those problems are easier to fix early.

Paying for care without dental insurance

The My Dental Hub Membership Plan is for patients without dental insurance. An adult membership is $199.99 a year and includes two cleanings, two fluoride applications, annual X-rays, and one emergency visit with the exam included. Additional adult family members join for $99.99 a year and children for $49.99.

Members also receive up to 50% off major treatments such as restorations, crowns, root canals, deep cleanings, and extractions. If you do have insurance, we are in-network with many major dental plans.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a checkup cost, and do you take my insurance?

Cost depends on what your exam turns up, so we go over your options and what they cost before any treatment beyond the exam and cleaning. We are in-network with Aetna, Ameritas, Blue Cross, Cigna, Dental Health Alliance, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Sun Life, United Concordia, and UnitedHealthcare. Without insurance, the membership plan covers your preventive visits for a flat yearly fee, and financing is available for larger treatment.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit covers a comprehensive exam, a panoramic X-ray and any other images we need, a cleaning, and time with the dentist to go over the findings and any recommendations. Bring your insurance card and a list of your medications. If it has been years since your last visit, you will not get a lecture; you will get a plan.

Does your team speak languages other than English?

Yes. Our team speaks English, Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian, and Spanish. Mention your preferred language when you book so we can plan for it.

Can I get a same-day appointment with a Skokie general dentist?

For emergencies, yes, whenever the schedule allows, and that includes first-time patients. For routine care, online booking shows our current openings, or you can call or text (847) 674-2463.
